In Issue 6 of the new Thor, she’s in an advanced stage of cancer. Thor goes to visit her and she says in no uncertain terms that she wants nothing to do with magic, as it “comes with a price”.
This raises some questions.
1. Thor knows like dozens of super scientists. Reed Richards, Tony Stark, Beast, Hank Pym are just a few I can think of offhand. Any one of those could cure her cancer via science. Hell, he could get *mutants* to cure her cancer. Folks like Scarlet Witch with her reality bending powers. Shit, how about Elixir, who has the power of biological manipulation and literally gave a guy cancer, then later took it away from him. Why are none of these individuals good enough?
2. How the FUCK did she get on the moon to pick up the hammer in the first place? Even putting aside that the area was oxygenated, she would still, well, have to get to the fucking moon, and she’s clearly in no shape to do that.
3. She’s against magic… but is using the magical hammer of Thor to do battle with bad guys? Okay.
At this point we’re not at a female characters having problems level. We’re at a “This doesn’t make any god damned sense” level.
Dear marvel and Jason Arron, please go fuck yourselves. It was insulting to actual disabled people back when DC pulled similar crap to explain why Oracle was still in a wheelchair despite having access to super science and magic users, and it’s even more offensive, nonsensical bullshit in this context.
